Take a minute to think about hell
“Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently but will not find me.” Proverbs 1:28 ESV
The end of Proverbs 1 gives a terrifying glance into eternity. Many have interpreted this passage to simply be about earthly matters, but it speaks much deeper into the eternal state of those who ignore godly wisdom.
None of us have a reference point for a time where we would call out to God and he would not answer. We have never seen a day where you could seek the Lord diligently and not find him. We are operating in the glorious dispensation of grace right now where when we seek we find. When we call out to him, he answers!
There will come a day where people will no longer be able to call on the name of the Lord and be saved. The curtain of eternity will close and all of the acts of this life will be done. The finality of this moment is beyond our comprehension.
Takeaway: Do you think much about the judgment to come? Do you try to put eternity out of your mind because it overwhelms you? Do you really believe in a literal hell where people will be separated from God forever? I encourage you today to take a minute and meditate on the goodness of God for sending Jesus. Also, the alternative of rejecting the work of the cross and entering into eternal separation. This will increase your fear of the Lord and heighten your wisdom.
