Take Note of This!

Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness. Otherwise you too will be cut off.” Romans‬ ‭11:22‬ ‭ESV

There were several occasions where Jesus made a big deal about what He was about to say. Verily, Verily would be His signal that what was to follow was super important. Paul was doing the same thing with this word “note”. This word in the original Greek means to “discern or discover”. There is definitely something powerful here to both discern and also discover!

The principle Paul is revealing in Rom 11 should be something discerned by God’s Spirit to the present times we live in. It holds firm the truth that many will indeed be cut off.

Many will not make it all the way. Many will not end up “saved” in the end and rescued from eternal separation.

The modern church has made salvation such a broad and easy way that it would seem everyone is going to be saved.

We never hear any sermons on the severity of God or the promise of eternal judgment upon all who fail to walk out obedience to Christ and His Word.

The discovery aspect comes by recognizing the importance of obedience.

Obedience is the key to the continued kindness of God.

You must discover this important truth that if you do not walk in obedience (a form of faith) then you will be cut off. This will definitely rub many people the wrong way but it is simply the Word of God!

Takeaway: Are you continuing in obedience to Christ? Did you just pray a salvation prayer and ride an emotional high only to then grow passive and cold in your pursuit of obedience to Christ? Are you growing in your obedience?

Don’t interpret God by the American interpretation of Him! That would be a critical mistake!

Get back to the Scriptures and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal the true Christ to you and you will find His wonder and grace to be all the more amazing!
