Tear Your Hearts America!

“Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead.” Return to the LORD your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish.” Joel 2:13 NLT
Has there ever been a time where our nation more badly needed a fresh outpouring of the Spirit of God? Has there been any more critical moment for sovereign intervention?
We need a move of God, and we need it right now!
“Don’t tear your clothing” simply means to not put on outward pretenses of wanting the move of God. Don’t go through the motions. Don’t say the right statements. Don’t let it be “the right thing to do”.
“But tear your hearts instead” means we need to retreat to our prayer closet and cry out to God. We cry out for his mercy. We cry out for a reprieve of his judgment. We cry out in repentance. Hold nothing back!
Be like the prophet Jeremiah who prayed that his eyes would be a fountain of tears that flow night and day for his nation.
There will be tears involved. The tearing of the heart always involves deep anguish.
Now you can see why there is very little tearing of the heart for our nation in the body of Christ.
No one wants anguish. No one wants true intercession.
Takeaway: Do you truly long for a move of God in our nation? Are you willing to tear your heart instead of just your clothing? I challenge you today to not only put on an outward expression of desire for change, but tear your heart and cry out for true, spiritual awakening.
