Why is Waiting on the Lord so hard?
“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” Psalms 27:14 ESV
Waiting is a hard thing. Waiting on the Lord is even harder!
Have you ever been in a season where you were waiting on the Lord for an answer or opportunity? I have been in that type of season many times and I’m in the middle of one right now. Something about it tests my faith in a way that nothing else can.
I think about Saul, who was supposed to wait on Samuel to offer the sacrifice. Because he could not wait he was disqualified as king. There is a serious importance to learning the discipline of waiting on the Lord. It is our nature as human beings to take action when we do not see a satisfactory intervention from heaven. How many times have I made a huge mess because I was unwilling to wait just one more day or one more week? This is why David tells us that it takes courage in order to wait.
The easy way out is to take matters into your own hands. The path of courage is to wait for God to speak or move supernaturally.
Takeaway: have you ever been in a situation where you needed to wait on the Lord for his guidance or intervention? Are you in a situation now? I encourage you to wait for the Lord and remind him of his promises. Hold fast to the word of God and do not be moved by the circumstances.
Allow the Lord to do something bigger and better then you could work in your own power!
