Of course it could be that JavaScript has been hijacked by the functional programing brigade, which has made it the horrible beast of JavaScript today!

People have been complaining about JavaScript since before jQuery, long before the word functional was spoken in the JavaScript community. The issues back then are the same issues that exist today.

If you were to remove 100% of FP from JavaScript, it would still have all of those issues. This suggests FP has absolutely zero role in that claim you are making.

There is little to love about functional program, horrible paradigm and totally unnatural to most people and appliations!

Have tried to swallow the pill of functional programing but its just a bad description of the world. Not saying it doesn’t work, just that its not a good way to look at things.

This is a classic case of Familiarity Bias.

Do agree that OOP in JavaScript is a joke compared to c++, Java or c#. Fiendishly clever plan by the functional programers I suspect on the JavaScript steering committees to kill JavaScript OOP!

Are you suggesting the functional programmers intentionally sabotaged OOP in JavaScript to push their FP agenda? I’m not sure I have a tinfoil hat strong enough to agree with this.
