Back to my roots

Stop worrying about your job!

I left 2013 with an on going process of cutting out from my life all the bullshit, wherever they were coming from and I started 2014 with a promise to myself: Do It!

I woke up one morning and booked a flight to San Francisco (always wanted to go, always postponed).

I started DJ again.

I quit my job (but first of all I switched off my work email from my personal phone… and you should do it as well, NOW).

So when I finally made my decision, when I finally made up my mind… once again I pressed the restart button in my life. I quit my job after bit less than 8 years of fun, screaming, moaning and excitement.

When I start telling people, colleagues, friends and family the first question was usually: so what are u going to do? For which company are you going to work?
My answer was a shocking (for them): I don’t know.

Yes I quit without having another job lined up, without having anything to go after, without worrying what the future will be.
The only thing I knew was that I had to stop what I was doing; stop with the past, stop what was not right, stop what was not me.
Stop worrying about your job, start thinking… feeling.

Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use.
— Steve Jobs

You can’t wake up every morning and like a robot start the day with the usual routine.
You have to believe in yourself and if you are not happy, stop moaning and be bold. Do something!

In evolutionary biology, people often speak of the four Fs which are said to be the four basic drives or mind states that animals (including humans) are evolutionarily adapted to be good: Fighting, Fleeing, Feeding, and Fuc….or the physical act of reproducing our species.

However something changed when we got all technologic and “smart”…work and in general our career took over our life.

No work = No money = No food = I’m dead!

We barely sleep, we are always stressed, we have no time for anything, we can’t cook our food unless we buy shitty pre-made stuff from supermarkets and we are absolutely lost without our phone. (I can keep going on and on…)

When was last time you went on holiday without your phone? Simply enjoying the unknown.

People worrying about their job and maybe their life too much. I now firmly believe, that if you are good in what you do… You’ll find something, but you have to take risks.

I’ll be travelling for a short break around Africa with whatever will fit in a backpack.

Back to my roots, it’s what I’m calling this trip.
It’s where all human beings seems to start,

…the african roots of the human family tree.
