I believe your article has good intentions, …it just did not read that way, …not entirely.

One critical bit of information about the yield from Mechanized, Over-fertilized Agriculture, Cattle, Pigs, and Poultry farms missing is the “true” cost. If you compute the damage being done to environment, humans, bees, and the resulting escalating medical costs from eating these mass produced foods, including loss of productivity, it is astronomical. I will spare you details on use of chemicals such as RoundUp, Glyphosphate, GMO seeds, Antibiotics, Poisoned waterways from fertilizer runnoff, manure, methane, etc., as most of your readers are likely aware of those issues. The point is, these highly mechanized, industrialized farms, only appear to yield more crop, when in reality if that crop is CRAP, then it’s really not sustainable food, never mind the domino effect on the environment, and our lives.

I would liked to have seen a mention to Polyface Farms and the tremendous success they are having implementing their fully Organic system. ..”He’s turned the small rocky farm that couldn’t even support one family when his dad bought it in 1961 into a deep-soiled powerhouse that grosses $2 million a year and pays 22 salaries. All without a single bag of fertiliser.” — http://www.theage.com.au/lifestyle/greener-pastures-20121111-2974z
