Marbury vs. Madsion DID determine the US Constitution to be supreme and it gave the federal courts the power to determine constitutionality of state laws and strike them down on the basis they are unconstitutiona — which this court did. That’s called Judicial Review and the first such case in which a state was struck down was Fletcher.
