Do Something Fun

For the “something fun” of this blog post, I decided to go to a comedy show with a couple of friends of mine. I had never been to a comedy show before, so this was a brand new experience for me! Although I initially thought about going to the comedy corner underground on the the West Bank (a friends suggestion), I ended up at The Whole watching a show by Aparna Nancherla. I hadn’t heard of her before, but did look at some YouTube videos before going, so I knew what to expect (which I shouldn’t have done). I was a little disappointed because she did many of the same skits during the show that were online, but she was still very entertaining and hilarious. I had a great time at the show!

  1. Urban Agriculture: I felt this was an appropriate theme, since it is a growing trend in cities to grow food, and to educate people about were food comes from. Since food is a vital part of health, I thought this would be an interesting theme to explore, both from the physical and social aspect.
  2. Public Health Awareness: This is an appropriate theme, since it is a narrower subset of a very broad subject, public health. I’m generally interested in which ways health officials raise awareness of public health issues in the Twin Cities and how they approach different communities and groups of people.
  3. Running Races in the Twin Cities: Exercise is an important aspect of a healthy lifestyle. I have recently gotten into running, and always love competing. With this theme, I don’t only want to explore what races are out there but also their history and missions, since some races do a lot to raise awareness and fund raise for various causes.
