Great article! As you point out user experience is so much more than just the product, it is the marketing, customer service, pricing, distribution etc, every point of contact with a customer (or a potential one).

There is a huge value in thinking about user experience as a whole, i.e. to design the full user experience, but that role would be quite different to what is normally associated with a UX Designer. I have written about that role here, curious what you think if you have time to read.
