Welcome to spiritual warfare 102.

Anyone who is not walking in the Spirit is opened up to the influence of the enemy, no matter how spiritual they may be. The implications is that at any point in time each of us can serve the enemy by hindering the Word of God, even without realising what we’re doing. Take as an example of this where Jesus had to tell Peter “get behind me, Satan”.

When you experience this, just counter with the Word of God. You won’t make anyone happy doing this, but it is what we’re called to do.

Also, be mindful of your own walk with God so that you yourself don’t fall into the same trap with others – which is very easy to do. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that we’re all practically guaranteed to do this sometime.
