An Open Letter to Millennials Like Talia…
Stefanie Williams

The author will probably never read this, but her arugment against Talia Jane is ridiculous. I just want to point out that the author’s ‘bottom’ paid twice as much as what Talia Jane’s job paid at yelp/Eat24. It’s like saying ‘I started in a higher wage position with a lower barrier to entry and now I’m richer than you. Fuck yourself.’ Ok, but what about what the original article talked about? Its like Trump’s ‘small loan of a million dollars’ writ a little smaller.

Sure, the original article is a little rant-y, but read between the lines. It is about living in a system where the actions of a small amount of ultra-wealthy elites (in the bay area these are the tech elites) drive the cost of living up so high and pay their employees so little, that their employees can’t afford to live. I just looked up whether yelp turned a profit, and it turned the first profit in 2015. Yet, the CEO is worth between $100 and $200 million dollars. If his company just started doing well, he should be paying his employees a living wage (yes, all of them) and then paying himself from the profit of the company. Which should mean that he would have taken his first checks…this year.
