I think this is the single most brilliantly articulated explanation of a comment I get all the time from people: “Latin? Yeah. Took it for four years. Don’t remember a word.” This article is the blueprint for the pedagogical revolution that is going on in Classics right now. And we’ll have to move quickly, because as we speak departments are getting axed, or gutting themselves by abandoning the languages for “Classical Civilization” courses in English.
