I wrote an essay about working overnights.
Peter Nickeas

I accepted a Midnight shift in order to get to a location that didn’t offer day work. It was for Aircraft maintenance; most of the required checks take place when these hours rest the crews. It was stressful to say the least. I eventually was able to talk the management into allowing a swing shift my last four years there out of 14 total. Cultivating an ability to sleep in the bright daytime was the main task . I can say unequivocally that it ruined my marriage, my finances, and my ability to sleep even now some twenty years later. When I hear about robotization, I hope that it will allow those cursed by these hours who cannot adapt or escape to get some relief at last. This damage is PTSD and lasts a lifetime, no doubt at all in my mind.
