Hollywood often misses the point. Studies will copy the wrong things in pursuit of the “sure thing” — especially with the growing swell of reboots.

Much as I admire JJ Abrams and George Lucas, I feel that they both lost the essence of what made the original Star Wars series successful — the hero’s journey.

But you can’t simply use it as a cut & paste template like The Force Awakens. Yes, to some degree there are only the same stories re-told. But the audience senses when you’re actually taking risks, and they want you to tell the story in a fresh, compelling new way.
