Senator, at times and across many issues we have agreed, at times not. With respect to accomplishing our long term goals of stability in the Middle East region, we agree America needs a new direction in policy.
As history has demonstrated the might of foreign powers have found themselves frustrated by their inability to force solutions in the region. America has power but as the Soviets before us learned there are limits to even the superpowers.
However it isn’t more guns, bullets or bombs.
I would suggest that a effect way to a more permanent change is to use the weapon that radical extremists fear most, education. There is a reason both tyrants and religious fundamentalists target schools and education.
Guns, bullets and bombs have been tried and while a military power can affect temporary change, as Iraq has shown, it will not secure the peace I believe we both would want to see.
