It seems kind of obvious to me, but I think spending my almost 30 years in tech plus USAF time outside of the SV foo gas helped. It’s all so stupid. Now instead of reforming hiring practices and punishing people doing fucked-up shit, it’s up to the victims, aka job applicants to do all the work. “Anonymize resumes”

How the fuck, exactly, do I “anonymize” my experience? What, I interview behind a screen with a voice changer? I’m almost out of my 40s, I’m supposed to pretend I’m twenty-fucking-five?

WHY IS THIS MY PROBLEM?

When that one moron suggested women use their first initial instead of their names, he was properly raked over the coals. But that doesn’t mean this isn’t still going to be a thing.

Because it’s not like HR can change THEIR practices. Oh no, they’re just fucking fine.
