Creating 4 MVPs in 4 weeks

Okay, so I’ve been wanting to push my developer skill set for some time now. Particularly, I’ve wanted to focus on making better design decisions, writing cleaner code, and doing it all more quickly and efficiently. As such, I’ve decided to create my own personal developer challenge.

The Rules

The rules are simple enough. I will be attempting to create four functional Minimum Viable Products within four weeks.

Sprints

I will be developing a single web app per week, for 4 weeks straight.

Blogging

I will keep a blog (here at Medium) of progress for each project. While intermediary progress reports may or may not occur, I do want to hold myself to creating blogs covering my sprint planning and retrospective.

Goals

I will write about my goal for each project in their respective sprint planning blog, but I hope to have a fully-functioning web app by the end of the sprint.

Release

All projects will be hosted on heroku and I will link to the finished product in each respective sprint retrospective.

Overview of Rules

  • 4 projects
  • 4 weeks
  • All hosted on heroku
  • Sprint planning blog post
  • Sprint retrospective blog post

Disclaimer

Did I mention I have a full-time job as a web developer? I also have a fiance and two dogs. These all keep me pretty busy. I won’t guarantee that my final products (if they are produced) will be pretty or bug-free; but I will try my best to find time to complete them.

Starting soon…

I will be launching this challenge Sunday March 6, 2016. It should end April 2, 2016. Wish me luck.
