“The torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans.” — JFK
Pete Buttegeig holding that torch.
While it's impossible to escape the dictatorship of the current administration, we need to be thinking about where we will be as a country when we turn the page in American history.
The next President will spending a lot of the first term repairing our Democracy and unifying the country during these polarising times.
Let's face it, all the other candidates leading the Democratic field are in their 70s.
One had a heart attack.
One stumbles his words.
One has a delusional trillion dollar healthcare plan.
Is this the best we have as Democrats? No. But Pete may be the answer you’re looking for…
He’s only 37 and has experience being a small town mayor. He’s a veteran and Speaks multiple languages. He believes that Medicare should be expanded, only to those who want it. You can say what you will about how he handled the shooting a few months ago. But he did more in his response to that officer involved shooting than what most Senators would. He’s used to dealing with day to day issues. Not just pedaling legislation and getting caught up in partisan polics on Capitol Hill.
Don't count him out just yet. Because a lot of what he talks about makes sense. Especially when it comes to repairing out relationship with our foreign allies.
Keep your eye on Mayor Pete. Because he's answer to the fallout of a fractured administration.
