I have often been asked what it took to start a company (Nexus) with literally no money (exactly three months of basic living expenses as capital) and all the reasons in the world not to start a company (new baby, non-working wife, no experience, blah, blah, blah…)

My answer is that I had an unshakable belief. I believed that I glimpsed a market opportunity that nobody else could see. I believed that if I did not give it a go then I would always live with the regret of not trying it. I was naive in the extreme. But I could not let it go. I could not sleep thinking about how to make it work. If I had just gone and got a job I would have been ineffectual because I would have been thinking about my idea.

The point is, to put yourself out there over and over and over again, your need an idea, a dream, an aspiration that will just not let go. You need a driver.
