The Faux Libertarian

It is very fashionable these days to espouse libertarian views on law, economics, and social norms without:

1) seriously engaging with the work of classical liberals and libertarian scholars (e.g., Hayek);

2) understanding libertarianism’s core ideas and claims while paying particular attention to distinguishing testable, untestable and empirically tested claims; or

3) being able to distinguish principled libertarianism from (i) unreflective greed or (ii) the kind of poorly-cloaked narcissism that leads the small minded to heap abuse upon those they deem inferior.
