The Silence Is Deafening on Aretha and Fur

For me it’s time to write this, I can’t take the silence anymore and enough time has passed. I’m sorry friends and fans of Aretha, she was a great talent, I loved her music growing up, but there have been just too many photos and videos of her proudly wearing fur for me to let it go. Like Joan Rivers who also passed, they along with many others promoted the cruel, inhumane fur industry. Where frightened animals are skinned alive, bludgeoned, electrocuted and drowned so these cruel, heartless, inhuman celebrities could parade around on stage and send a message to their fans that slaughtering innocent animals for fashion purposes is acceptable. Then they had/have the audacity to get angry when some speak out against them for it.
In addition, the hell with you Ivanka Trump, Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Lady GaGa, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Madonna, Eric Clapton, Demi Moore, Paris Hilton, Sean Combs, Lindsay Lohan, Kim Kardashian, Kate Moss, Rihanna, Anna Wintour, Mick Jagger, Kid Rock, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Mary J. Blige, Jessica Simpson and all the others that support this abomination. Your talent, or lack of it, or wealth, does not make you morally acceptable to me or worthy of praise.
Human beings have this unfortunate tolerance of the despicable among us if they are celebrities; willing to overlook horrific actions, to rationalize the unthinkable or look the other way. They will attend a fundraiser for fur seals, speak out against a neighbor pulling too hard on their Poodle’s leash and then put on a fur coat that a hundred mink died a horrible death to make to go to the opera.
This will never change, because human beings are too cruel, self-centered and egocentric to give a shit about faceless animals they will never see. There are organizations, individuals and even municipalities that do their best to fight this barbaric, brutal reality.
But it will never be enough and I grieve endlessly for these creatures that I love.
