With everything going on in the United States today, with so many people being understandably concerned with their lives and their family’s future, this is not going to get much notice if any at all. It’s an issue that not many care about.

Indicative of the disdain and disregard with which Trump and his administration hold the Palestinian people and in a predictable homage to his reactionary right-wing racist brother Bibi Netanyahu, the Trump administration is ending all funding to UNRWA, the United Nations agency tasked with supporting Palestinian refugees.

In addition they are calling for a large reduction in the number of Palestinians considered to be refugees. Losing their refugee status would mean losing the right of return to homes that are now in Israel and their ability to reclaim lost property for 5.3 million Palestinian refugees.

UNRWA also provides educational, health and social services in the West Bank, Gaza, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon to Palestinian refugees and they educate 500,000 children in 700 schools while their doctors see more than 9 million patients and maintain 150 primary health clinics every year.

This is a disgrace in every way, but not a surprise.
