Iceland- What I learned from my week in Reykjavik

Front row seat to the Northern Lights over Reykjavik.

Today, I flew home to Washington, DC after spending the last week in Iceland. Here is what I learned from my time up north:

  • The Northern Lights are pure magic
The raw beauty of aurora borealis.
  • Reykjavik is a city full of color
Braud bakery features one of the many murals painted around the city.
  • Icelandic sunsets last forever
We watched the sun set over the harbor for two hours on this night.
  • Not all glaciers are perfectly white
Many of Iceland’s glaciers are dusted with ash from volcanic eruptions.
  • Reykjivak is a young city
Most of the buildings in Reykjavik are less than 50 years old, such as the Harpa, completed in 2011.
  • Glacier water tastes fantastic
Just don’t fall in ;)
  • I will be back
