OG Anunoby is viewed as the ideal 3&D in today’s league. He is arguably the best non-big defender in the NBA, and he’s arguably the most versatile. He is one of the few players in NBA history who can truly guard all five positions without any sort of awkwardness. OG is often tasked with guarding the toughest matchup every night, and he always delivers. He generates a massive amount of turnovers, can provide very good rim protection, and players shoot very poorly when they iso vs him (he’s one of the best isolation defenders in basketball). It’s not hard to see why Toronto was so hesitant to trade him as they wound up holding onto him after the trade deadline. On offense, his role has been increasing as the years go by. Gone are the days of being a typical 3&D player, OG has been developing actual ball skills. His handle has come such a long way, and he’s still a strong shooter. Not quite a star, but still a very valuable player to have on your team.
