ESSAY: Who should be accountable in children’s discipline? Teachers or Parents?

The topic with regard to discipline in modern schools is one of the popular issues in the present climate. There are people who believe that teacher should be responsible for youngsters’ discipline, whereas others hold the view of that parents should handle this particular predicament.

Those people who surmise that educators should take care of the children’s discipline deem that teachers are well trained and educated on coaching their students since this is their profession and specialty. For example, these professionals are mandated to attend their continuous learning programs by participating to various seminars and conventions which focus on students’ development. Therefore, due to their capabilities, they should be the one who needs to take over in embedding and molding the young ones to have a good moral value and behavior that they can utilize in their existence.

On the other hand, those people who contrast and believe that discipline should be managed by parents assert that this essential characteristic is observed at home since day one because mother and father are the first educators of youngsters. Parents are the first person in children’s’ life, thereby they are tasked to initially train them to have proper manners while growing up, and they should equip them with the proper attitude even before their first exposure to school and initial meeting with their teachers.

In conclusion, the teachers may have the proper training to teach their pupils, but parents have the biggest responsibility with regard to disciplining their children. I believe that the grassroots of this characteristic could be learned properly at home with a stringent supervision of parents.
