As many know, Adam was supposed to be my guest last week, November 27th — but that was before a truck hit a telephone pole, splitting it in half, knocking down wires into the street, and knocking out power from my home and studio for 12 hours. Adam graciously agreed to re-schedule and the show was well worth the wait. We not only discussed Adam’s interesting career but also that of his grandfather, Adam Clayton Powell, legendary pastor of Harlem’s Abyssynian Baptist Church, and his parents, Adam Clayton Powell, Jr.. who succeeded his father as the pastor and was a flamboyant Civil Rights activist and twelve-term Congressman and his mother, the well-known jazz pianist Hazel Scott. Adam also explained why there are two Adam Clayton Powell IVs — but you’ll have to listen to the show to find that out — as well as the get the story of his long career with CBS, NPR, PBS, WINS (1010 in NY) Quincy Jones Entertainment and the University of Southern California. After retiring from USC, Adam was convinced to return to head up USC’s Washington Programs for the USC Center on Communications Leadership and Policy as Vice President and to manage its “Internet of Things (IoT) Emergency Response Initiative” project.

This conversation was the 167th episode of the “Weekly johnmac Radio Show”. Join us for my next show, Sunday, December 11th (7:00PM Eastern time), with retired NYPD officer and documentarian Kevin Reynolds, currently involved in developing a documentary about his attempt to get all the details concering the death of his brother, Lt.
