Today’s Paper — 99% On Heath Care Abomination Being Perpetrated On Us

Other than a wonderful column by Timothy Egan, “No Country for This Old Man” and a column by me, extolling the new book co-authored by my old friend, John Charles “Chick” Donohue, “The Greatest Beer Run Ever: A True Story of Friendship Stronger Than War”, today’s entire paper deals with the “Repeal and Replacement of the Affordable Heathcare Bill“ ”(“Obamacare”) by the Republican controlled House of Representatives.

I feel that the GOP has committed an unspeakable act upon those whole will lose Healthcare (estimated at 24 people), those who will lose or will not be able to afford coverage for preexisting conditions, those who depend on Planned Parenthood for Birth Control help and Cancer Screenings, and the American public in general. While I realize that there will be debate over my claims, it is worth pointing out that this is not solely my judgement of that of Democrats. One only has to read the New York Times article, “In Rare Unity, Hospitals, Doctors and Insurers Criticize Health Bill” by Reed Abelson and Katie Thomas (https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/04/health/health-care-bill-criticisms.html — as well as a link in the paper), to see that is not so.

The news stories and columns in today’s paper are curated from the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the New York Daily News. I have included at least one pro-GOP action column. I think that this withdrawal from government support of heathcare as a human right is a real tragedy that should be the concern of every American. I further think that this President debases the American Dream, whether he understands what he is doing or not.

Whether or not the reader agrees with me is irrelevant; what is important is that every American consider thoughtfully what this actions means for the country!
