Good news for Panthers Brady will play tonight

Panthers fans should be happy that the Patriots are reporting the Tom Brady will play tonight at Bank of America Stadium.

According to CSNNE.com, Tom Brady made the trip to Charlotte and will play in the game. Brady has made it clear that he thinks he needs to be out on the field leading his team regardless of the fact that he will be serving a suspension for the first four games. It is head coach Bill Belichick’s stated priority to get Jimmy Garoppolo as many reps in the preseason to prepare him for those four games. With that in mind and after Brady was ruled out of the Bears game because of the “silly scissor accident”, it was unclear if he would have any preseason action.

It is uncertain how long Brady will play and if he or Garoppolo will start. Brady might come off the bench to give Garoppolo much needed reps with the first team.

This can only be said because the worse case scenario is a loss in the preseason, but this is good news for the Panthers. The Patriots have the best team Carolina will face before their season opener in Denver. It will be a good test for the Panthers so hopefully Brady will get several possessions with the first team.

The loss of Josh Norman, some questions with depth at the defensive end position, leave several question marks for the defense. The Patriots stout offensive line usually protects Brady very well. Given time to work, Brady could pick apart the rookie corners. If this happens it will be interesting how Bradberry and Worley react. If the rookies have a solid game against Brady this will go along way to boost their confidence.

No matter how fans feel about the defense after the game, confident or concerned the Panthers will be able to judge the overall effectiveness and see where improvements are most needed.
