Please take a look at “Exhibit 3: MTA 2015 operating revenue and expenses”. Operating revenue and expenses do not include any capital spending. The $27b 2015–2019 Capital spending plan that was recently approved is going to be paid for by the city and state by taking on more debt, equating to more subsidies. In fact, if you amortize the $27b over 5 years, this is an additional $5.4b in subsidies each year. The $6b I refer to is only the yearly operating subsidies.

The MTA has a lot of problems and is insanely inefficient. Union rules require a significant overhaul.

I appreciate you agreeing with my main point and I hope that the mayor and governor will take action to create a more efficient system that isn’t such a drag on all New Yorker’s paychecks.
