We all want a shredded six-pack, toned arms and a healthy, happy body — but the largest reason we can’t get there is what I call the brain-block.
The brain-block, is what happens when all the things that could go wrong begin to cloud our minds when we set out to achieve a goal. We start to build a wall of reasons that something won’t work.
“I need to quit smoking before I start working out.”
“I need to wait until work dies down before I join the gym.”
“Eating healthy costs too much money.”
There are a million [and one] excuses as to why you can’t get healthy — but what about all the reasons that you need to get healthy?
“My blood pressure, cholesterol and triglycerides are through the roof.”
“I get out of breath when playing with my kids.”
“I can’t see my shoes when I’m standing up.”
“I don’t sleep well.”
I could go on and on, and on.
The mind is a tricky thing — and sometimes it changes direction without you realizing it or telling you first. For most of us, our subconscious affects our motivation whether you like it or not.
But if you make a conscious effort to identify the reasons you need to get fit, instead of inherently focusing on the reasons you cannot — you will see your goals come to fruition a lot faster.
So here is your to-do:
- Write down your fitness goals.
- Make a list of all the reasons that you NEED to get healthy.
- Make a list of the reasons you WANT to get healthy.
- Without hesitation, go do the first thing that will get you started, such as:
- —join a friend at the gym
- —join the gym
- —try out a fitness class
- —find some training videos online or checkout Beachbody products
