A Starter Pack For Life
Bluesky thinking
As a lover of shiny new things, I have been trying out “Bluesky”, which is like TwiX (X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter) but without the hate speech and bigotry, with some moderation and morality are thrown into the mix, at least as far as I can see so far. I covered the new platform briefly in this article:
In the usual way of these things, I seem to be months behind everyone else, and there are numerous well-known celebrities from Medium, and the wider world rumoured to exist outside our bubble, with squillions of followers and already plugged into the future.
I even found Medium CEO Tony Stubblebine on Bluesky and was going to give him a single clap, but it worked out that was all you could give, so I foiled again.
However, as a late adopter, I have discovered a marvelous feature on “Bluesky” called “Starter Packs”. As already mentioned, I am usually the last person to learn about anything. Being hard of thinking, I am able to lower the average IQ in a room by at least ten points just by walking through the door. I can be introduced to someone at a party and have forgotten their name before the introduction has finished, and regularly go upstairs to fetch something and completely forget the reason I set off.
Anyway, I digress. So if you already know about starter packs, please excuse my ignorance. However, to the uninitiated, they are like a collection of useful people or resources to follow to get you started. In the words of that wonderful advertising slogan, they do what they say on the tin.
This got me thinking, a rare phenomenon that tends to happen briefly between about 7.00 am, after the first cup of strong coffee kicks in, until 9.30 am, when I will start getting distracted by clips on Toktik or the thought of Mrs. P emerging from her lair, and reminding me of all the chores I haven’t done.
What if life had starter packs? Wouldn’t it make life so much easier and better if there were such plugins to help ease…
