If You Want Personal Fulfillment, Embrace Your Passion

Nothing is sadder than reaching the sunset of your life and missing out on your passion. It happens to too many people. Work, responsibilities and the quotidian rhythms of life shepherd us along. Until one day we’re old and wondered where it all went.

In youth we are blind to this. The world is our oyster and we have all the time in the world. So we flit about, pursuing amusements and digressions. But sooner or later we must work. Start a family. Juggle a mortgage and vacations and bills and new braces for the kid.

A soft voice in the deepest recesses of our soul starts to whisper. “Remember me? Your dreams?” Of course we remember, but not now. There is a promotion looming. Your spouse wants that new car. You need to lose a few more pounds. And so the voice gently returns to the long slumber.

Even in the later years of our lives it’s possible to return. To close our eyes, slow our breathing and conjure the creative spirit within. Awake the child who has been patiently sleeping. Dreaming and yearning to build that treehouse, explore that pathway, climb that old tree and sketch birds and butterflies in the garden.

It’s never too late. You just have to say yes. Rearrange things. Make it happen. Because we are what we do. If you want personal fulfillment, embrace your passion.
