I voted Democrat and I don’t agree this is the solution. After all a similar call about “the party leadership must change” was said about the Republican Party after a losses to Obama in 2008 and 2012. At times they seemed entirely disconnected from the pulse of the American consciousness, and from my perspective, not much changed from 2012 to 2016. Furthermore, it seemed that until Donald Trump emerged from the primaries victoriously, it appeared that no true formidable Republican presidential candidate would emerge. It was Trump’s, appearing to be the modern anti-hero (positioning himself as the alt-Republican; the new version of the modern Republican) with his straightforward and “refreshingly new” rhetoric that captured the imagination of the American public — and that is all the Democratic leadership needs to do…or maybe just come up with an alt-Democrat.
