Dunedin, FL — A local minor league football team is looking for the best amateur football talent in the Tampa Bay area. The Dunedin Pirates, a semi-pro football team which plays in the Florida Football Alliance (FFA), will be holding an evaluation camp on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 9 to 12 PM at Jack White Stadium at Clearwater High School. Interested athletes should bring football cleats and appropriate athletic gear to the tryout.

Formerly known as the Anclote Pirates, the team was founded in 2009 by Andy Villamarzo and joined the FFA in 2017 after being a member of the United Football Federation from 2010–2014. The team will be coached in 2019 by former Carrollwood Day School and Gibbs High School defensive coordinator Robert Tirado. The Pirates play their home games at Dunedin High School’s football stadium at 1651 Pinehurst Road.

The Florida Football Alliance is a 14 team league featuring college-eligible amatuer players and serves as a proving ground for athletes aspiring to move on to college programs or professional teams. Season play will kick off the third week of January.
