Colin Kaepernick and the LORD

Not only does the Star-Spangled Banner include the lines “No refuge could save the hireling and slave / From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,” it is also built upon the idea that the United States was the “land of the free” at a time when many oppressed peoples could not vote or express themselves.

Colin Kaepernick has a 4.0 GPA and a Christian attitude. This has been ignored by all the media outlets I’ve seen. This clearly is an intelligent, faithful individual who I think can be a better role model than the plethora of other athletes who continue to get endorsement and praise despite committing crimes/sins.

Isaiah 1:17a “Learn to do good. Seek justice: help the oppressed.” (CEB)

Scripture is clear on this matter. Justice is coming to the aid of the oppressed. It is impossible to deny the suffering that people of Afrikan descent face throughout the history of Amerikan colonization that goes up until today.

It is my duty, as a non-Black Christian, to support Black people in their effort and struggle against racism and oppression and the very system that I benefit from.
