.
  1. There is no local news. Federal politics and international relations are what matters in this town.
  2. No matter how great your job is, you will always feel small and insignificant in comparison to the the powerful people who work here as well.
  3. Rush hour traffic goes from roughly 7 am-11 am. The afternoon slot begins at around 2 pm, finishing at around 7 am the next day.
  4. Washingtonians suffer from mildly cold winters, while enjoying heatstroke-inducing summers.
  5. Even without mind-altering drugs, the Botanic Garden is one of the most beautiful attractions the city has to offer (so long as you go there during the week).
  6. Though the walk from the Capitol to the Washington Monument might not seem all that long, it is.
  7. Everything is ridiculously expensive (yes I’m aware that San Francisco and NYC are also expensive, this is not a competition).
  8. No one is actually from here, meaning the major sports teams gather the majority of their support from band-wagoners and Maryland/Virginia suburbanites.
  9. The metro stations are eerily beautiful.
  10. The only Trump supporters that live here all seem to work in the White House.
