I belong to Group Health Cooperative of Washington State.

Members are voting to be acquired by Kaiser Permanente (not a cooperative) under recommendations from the board of trustees. Reason: GHC can no longer be competitive. I voted no, but the big majority are voting yes.

I don’t know if this is a health insurance industry issue or a general trend to toward consolidation. Maturity leads to monopoly. A sad thought.
