Halloween is one of the favorite holidays of the year for most Americans. It is highly anticipated by both children and adults. It is a once-in-a-year reason to go trick-or-treating and wear scary or shiny, ornate costumes for children. A lot of adults get into the spirit by dressing up and going to parties, or just end up staying at home and handing out candy and treats to the trick-and-treaters.

No Halloween celebration would be complete without pumpkins everywhere, friendly happy grinning pumpkins, or more malevolent leering, scary jack-o-lanterns presiding over the festivities. People spend hours carving their favorite pumpkins to look just so.

The younger the child, the more they enjoy the holiday. The food, the candy, and the excitement are all real and all fun. There is no other holiday like Halloween on our party calendars.

It is one of those holidays that are loved by young and old. The ancient Celtic tradition of Samhain celebrated the end of the year. They believed the night before the start of the New Year the line between the worlds of the living and dead became blurry and that on October 31 the ghosts of the dead returned to earth.
