‘What else can a woman do if she can’t make food?’

Many people must have said these very same words before now and I imagine that the same feelings of derision and contempt were present with each of them as this sentence was thought.

The things we hear from the mouths of our people. Nigerians oh!!

In one sentence, the entirety of a complex system, the essence of an individual, has been reduced to her ability to cook.

I can think of so many things I can do which have absolutely nothing to do with my ability to cook.

And, I can cook. Very well, I must add. Ask my mother.

We all eat, don’t we? Food is essential to human survival. If you wan live, you must to chop. If you wan chop, you must to cook.

EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW HOW TO COOK.

Period.
