Poppin officially released to its hometown Bay Area crowd this past summer, amassing 1,000 users in its first week.

The start-up kicked things off with a launch party in Danville, co-promoted by local events promoters—such as Jonathan Zaky of San Ramon, California—which brought together over 700 people from the East Bay to celebrate Poppin’s ‘ribbon-cutting’ event.

Since then, Poppin has accumulated over 3,400 users across 15 different schools—ranging from UC Berkeley to University of Alabama—over 100 parties posted to the app, and locked deals with various promoters, interfraternity councils, and national brands.

The next step for this burgeoning company is just around the corner, March 23rd, when they will be launching at three nationally-recognized California universities: UCLA, UC Berkeley, and San Jose State, and two universally-esteemed universities: University of Pennsylvania and Yale. Poppin will mark these launches with a monumental open-invite party at each campus—in partnership with vario fraternities, clubs, student-activity boards, and individual students, Poppin will release its name-brand and app to the accumulated 200,000-sized student-body in one memorable night.

Long-term, Poppin is aiming to become the first all-in-one, one-stop-shop for all things parties, social events, and hangouts for college students, and this public launch on the 23rd will not only set things in motion in a substantive way, but catapult the mission into public spotlight.

In conjunction, they are also planning to release their first major update with their “Poppin 1.0” release in early January. A source close to the company mentions private parties, profiles, and paid events in this first major release.

The future of this social-consumer start-up is both exciting and unpredictable, as they look to bring a first-of-its-kind product into the 21st Century zeitgeist.
