Ground Schools

King Schools Private Pilot Ground School & Written Test Prep — I used this one for my private pilots license

Sporty’s Private Pilot Ground School & Written Test Prep — I used this one for my IFR

Aviation Medical

You need to create an account on FAA MedXPress — You will apply for your Student Pilot certificate through here.

Right now you only need a 3rd Class Medical. You don’t need to waste the money on a 1st class until you are ready for your Commercial Pilot Certification. you need to do Private, Instrument and multi before. 1st class you need to do every year, the 3rd you only need to do every 5 years because you are under 40 years old.

FAA Medical Examiner ← This is the one I use. He is cool and easy.

Flying Club To Join

Plus One Flyers — Largest Club in the USA Here is their Fleet at Montgomery. They are at 4 or 5 airports now.

Aircraft to use: I would start with a Cessna 172N model once you learn how to land and fly. I would also do some training in a low wing Piper Archer 160 or 180. This will come in handy when you do your commercial because you need to learn how to land both high and low wing. don’t let the Instructors tell you otherwise.

Flight Instructors

They will need to be a member of the club. Here are the ones I recommend. Dave Eby, Charlie Platt, Jacob Wick, Pawel Miko, Roelle Nogra, Brett Livingston, Gabe Wisdom. You can see the whole list on the Plus One Flyers Website at https://www.plusoneflyers.org/instructors/
