Bea and I both got new gadgets and decided it needed a few tweaks, so the first place that came to mind was Greenhills. We thought then that we might as well find a good place to eat since that’s what area around is known for (besides technology and fake stuff). To help us decide, we turned to the Internet for best places to eat near Greenhills, and the Internet gave us this gem: Cafe Sanso.

They have a bar

We chose this place among the list we found in this really helpful booky article and because of Bea was also craving for Paella at that time and we were really really hungry! Thank you Booky for making such a great article, pa SPONSOR NAMAN DYAN!

Ambience and Location

Jolo’s not really sure what he’s pointing at

Cafe Sanso is located in Little Baguio Area in San Juan, and inspired by the works of Spanish artist Juvenal Sanso, whose museum is just next to the cafe. So If you’re looking for a Food + Museum date then this is the place to go!

It took us less than 10 mins to get there by car from Greenhills. In contrast to the shopping center’s noisy and crowded atmosphere, Cafe Sanso is located in a quiet village, and had a mysterious hidden feeling to it too. The place encourages you to just hit pause on work and stress, and it fosters an atmosphere great for relaxation and deep conversations with your friends/partners.

The overall look is a modern artsy setup with minimalist furniture accentuated by the great artworks around the restaurant.

Staff

There was one waiter and one cashier behind the counter and overall they were okay. The waiter wasn’t as smiley or perky but he did his job well by serving water quickly whenever our glasses were empty, and took good pictures of us! Good job to him. Food Taste and Value For Money

We got the Paella Valenciana (approx Php800) and Salpicao (approx Php450) as suggested by Booky.

Mandatory Couple Pic! with Cameo from a person at the back
Pretty sure this is Paella
This is Salpicao, not adobo

We overall liked both meals as the Salpicao was full of taste and at the right type of chewiness so It was enjoyable. The Paella for Jolo was great because it had a lot of assorted meat, and because he was used to having more rice than meat in the Paellas he has eaten.

Bea thought both meals were alright but thought that the Paella and salpicao is not worth it’s high asking price. It could be lower by a few hundred pesos, since the serving size wasn’t even that big. However she notes the freshness of ingredients is probably one of the reasons why they cost that high.

Overall taste wise, it was awesome and really worth a try, but the asking price? Maybe if you have a discount voucher or willing to spend money then this would be a good date place. Lucky for us we got a discount voucher from Booky and got Php500 off our purchase so it was a FANTASTIC deal!

Conclusion

We were lucky enough to have had a discount from booky for this one and this has made the experience a great value for money!

We loved the sexy ambience and the way art plays a role in their restaurant.

The food was served with freshness and was at a reasonable amount of time which delighted the both of us.

We would love to check out the museum next time as they were closed when we were eating dinner

We’d also love to try the other dishes, but I feel that it won’t be a fave for us because of the price.

Good place to try out! Best to check out Booky for some discounts so you get to try their food without feeling the guilt in your pocket

Updates, Will be moving food reviews to a new website soon! Stay tuned for more food reviews there!
