For me this has been a very simple decision. I have well over 200GB of legally purchased music that I listen to everywhere I go. The 160GB iPod Classic, while not able to hold everything I have, holds pretty much everything I’d want to regularly listen to at a decent quality of compression. Streaming services require an Internet connection, which I don’t have a lot of the time. Other devices that can play FLAC, etc., get ridiculously expensive for a comparable or larger size (I think a FiiO X5 with two 128GB micro SD cards at a combined total of around $500 would be the best I could do in the alternative). I got my iPod Classic for free using airline miles. It was the easiest and best mobile music decision I ever made and I pray constantly it never dies.
