Hmm, I’ve never heard of symbols impacting developers. I use Zeplin and InVision Inspect, which are both great, interactive design spec tools.

The only issue I have run into is that these tools do not recognize color overrides. So if I have an icon that uses the BLACK color symbol in the base icon symbol, and I have a RED override in my design, a developer who clicks on this icon will be told it is black. This isn’t an issue for me because I always send developers a color sheet and a zip of all icons as SVGs, so they just recolor them in the code to match the design.

It’s just a little more manual work if devs require PNGs, but I have always worked with development teams who prefer vector assets over raster.
