How to be more creative

Creativity is the ability that everyone has to use what they have from where they are to find solution to their problems. we differ on that skill because we have different interests and talents. we also have different level of determination and resilience.
we tend to believe the most creative people are steve jobs-like or Albert Einstein-like. I don’t believe so. I prefer to believe that we build a system where we congratulate those we consider as successful and don’t encourage those we consider as looser. Everyone is creative, but our craft differs. we can’t solve our personal challenges without critical thinking, action and follow up.
I’ve been working with people from different cultural and academic backgrounds. I realize when we share our perspectives and are open to each other we find cross-discipline and non-conventional solutions. Moreover, that makes everyone happy to be included. In other word, some environment may promote creativity more than other. Nevertheless, You can improve your skills without waiting for other people’s permission. just begin by those steps.
- No idea is perfectly completed: everything that surrounds you can be improved. You may not have the knowledge to do it, but someone else can. When the appropriate talent meet the right craft a transformation happens in both senses. This is why Michelangelo said: “I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free”. If you take someone’s idea and share it as it was, this is plagiarism. If you take it and improve it, this is creativity.
- You are the chosen one: if you believe it is for someone else you will do nothing about it. Nevertheless, if you believe you can do it and you have the talent to do so, you’ll find a way to achieve it. A speaker said to me one day that the problem that hurt you more is the problem that you have the mission to resolve in life. It took the example of a mother whose child was killed by a drunk driver. the mother created an association to protect pedestrian against drunk drivers. You have to believe in yourself, but more that it is your call to bring your craft to the world.
- Togetherness: you have to see that everything is connected. the more you can erase the invisible space among things or people, the more creative you become. Creativity happens by combining ideas, by mixing things up to have something new and different. Your imagination will help you to see what your eyes can’t. The more disparate the components of your craft are, the more beautiful and astonishing will be the outcome.
- New people: Every time you meet a stranger he or she leaves you with his or her perspective. So, the best and easiest way to expand your mind is by meeting and listening new people. You’ll be able to see the same idea from different angle. You’ll be able to make better judgment and take better decision.
- Interest or discipline: It is important that you have another hobby or spend time with people from different discipline o industry. You’ll build valuable skill by learning something new that will help you in your main grind. Knowledge is never too much. learning is not a waste of time. we have nothing to fear, but everything to understand.
- You will not be the same anymore: according to the ontological design what we create creates us back. Have you ever worked on a project and realize that you have more information and skills than when you begin? Have you ever focus on something and realize that you can see what you couldn’t before? The answer is while you working on your craft, it is working on you too. It helps you reach a level of mastery.
- Time: time doesn’t pass. Life passes. We pay nothing with time, but with our life. You’ll be older tomorrow, but you’ll also be wiser and stronger. Nothing happens quickly. Everything takes time, defeat, lesson and grit. If you are motivated and passionate enough, you’ll make it happen no matter how long it takes. Even when you have the final draft, you can find something to improve. Everything can get better. this includes your craft and you.
- Break time: working hard doesn’t increase productivity. It does the opposite. It decreases it. If you feel tired, take a break. During that time your ideas will come together in your subconscious while you are doing something else. Have you ever had a new idea when taking a shower or in a traffic jam? It seems the less you think about something, the more you give it chance to happen. When you are too focus on something you can’t solve it. you exhaust yourselves. Nevertheless, if you take a break or stay away for a while your mind will refresh and you’ll have a new perspective. That allows you to perceive what you couldn’t before.
I do believe if the world has many problems now it wants us to be more creative. Human being accomplishes incredible things. We increase our life expectancy. We solve mystery about the ocean and the universe. We stay curious. We always believe the answer is here. You are a human too, so you are not different from any of those who have changed this world.
choose something that you love. work on it and work on you.
