This really sums up the issue. Having grown up in Palo Alto and now living in Menlo Park, the situation makes so sad. There are so many who feel development and growth here were fine in the 1950s — 1970s when they needed housing, is not ok now.

Just look a the debate on the Almanac concerning Facebook expansion and the building out a new neighborhood around it. One would think the sky was falling:

Menhwile in Menlo Parks downtown along El Camino Real decades old empty lots dot the landscape
