I think that you are missing the point. You are right in everything you said, except for one tiny detail: the “random” decision would not include first class passengers. The main topic is that corporations are not obligated to treat their customers equally and this leads to situations where people face bad service based on the money they spent in such service. The United incident is just something that demonstrates this.
