There Is So Much Warner Media Can Do With The Matrix Franchise

The original Matrix is flawless. Then, the Wachowskis created the sequels Reloaded and Revolutions as one movie split in two. Many years later another sequel came up, Resurrections. The Resurrections movie returned with Neo and Trinity as main characters, with Murpheus being a Modal version of the original and Smith being portrayed with a different image, a different actor. I didn’t like they brought up the Smith character again. Also, they seasoned the movie with a bit of nostalgia from previous movies. The originality seems to be fading from sequel to sequel.

Nevertheless, many stories can be told inside The Matrix universe but for some reason I don’t know, they are not being created. A new Matrix movie is apparently in the developing phase. It seems is going to be another sequel. A new sequel movie is OK but the skepticism is growing movie after movie. How about a prequel?

Between the original Matrix and the next ones, The Wachowskis created nine animated short films known as The Animatrix. Here they told stories about how the Human vs machine war started and how the machines were forced to obtain other forms of energy, taking the human body as the source of it. This story can be developed as a prequel movie or a TV show. They also tell other stories about specific characters and situations that might be also developed, like the one about Trinity, the one about The Kid (the kid character who wants to join the Nebuchadnezzar in the first sequels), and The Last Flight of the Osiris (which is mentioned in Reloaded). These connections from The Animatrix to the two older sequels were cool but can be extended.

I’m just going to mention some stories I think can be developed:

  1. The story about the first Matrix. That one that was sublime but it failed because Humans couldn’t accept a perfect world, an all-happy world. Here they could show how the Architect program was written and how he started to create the different versions of The Matrix with the help of The Oracle (and how she was written). Here they can also show the appearance of the first anomaly. This would be a good TV show.
  2. The story about Murpheus. This can be from the character’s early life until he becomes the person we saw in the first movie. The first time he meets the Oracle shall be also shown. They can also show how he recruits Trinity, Dozer, Tank, Mouse, Switch, Apoc, and Cypher. Perhaps a prequel movie or TV show.
  3. The building of Zion. How after the war, surviving humans built Zion underground. Here Humans built the city with everything required which it seems it was a huge engineering work. Also, how they came up with the first Council. One thing I’ve never heard in any Matrix movie is what is the economic system in the real world. This looks like a TV show to me.
  4. The story about the Agents. Those sentinels programs, the gatekeepers, who wrote them? What was the original purpose? From which version of the Matrix they started to appear? A TV show maybe? Here they could also show when they catch a program that is hiding in the Matrix and how is the process of being deleted.
  5. The civil war among machines. This is mentioned in Resurrections movie explaining that after what Neo did at the end of the Revolutions, some machines started to consider not being at war with Humans. This is why some machines were working with Humans in the real world. This could be a movie.
  6. The story of the Merovingian. One of the older programs from the first Matrix, he has survived many things, including Neo and his predecessors. Another nice TV show. Here they can also show the story of Seraph, which is called “The Prodigal Son” and “Judas” by the Merovingian, making clear they used to work together.

The list might go on and on. In this current media-streaming world, where these people of Warner Media have a streaming platform known as Max, they can use the formula the people from Disney+ use with Marvel and Star Wars franchises. They could also use it for DC and Harry Potter franchises as well.

Give the people what they want!

That’s all I have to say about this.

Thanks for reading.
