I have worked as an electronics engineer in the Boston Area since 1980, and been laid off and hired by many operations, using many different kinds of desk and/or bench seating. I am currently a volunteer coordinator for Bikes Not Bombs, which involves no desk work, and my home computer & piano seating is a guitar amp laid on its side, so it’s a little shorter than from my buttocks to my knees, allowing a comfortable angle at which I can “perch” while kneeling on my padded rug floor. The seat portion has a gel filled wrist rest under a folded wool blanket for padding. This, along with frequent bicycle rides in our beautifully laid out bike lanes, keeps my back strong and healthy.
